…and while staying on the beach or by the pool. It’s audiobooks we’re talking about (of the download-for-free type). Audio books are great, because you can listen to them while driving or on the bus, or while waiting in line on your lunch break; here are 3 ways to get them for free.
Open Culture
This website is genius and if you have time, you definitely need to check it out; here you can see a ton of free lectures, e-books, articles, videos, and 700 gems of free audiobooks. The link is here (http://www.openculture.com/freeaudiobooks); they have a lot of good classics like Jane Austen or Curt Vonnegut. It’s difficult to imagine you won’t find at least a few titles you want to listen to. If you want a recommendation – listen to Paul Auster read his Red Notebook.
Audible.com
Okay, this is a bit of a cheat, because you can actually only download one book for free before you have to start paying for the audio books, but still I think it’s a good idea to keep in mind that you can choose whatever you want and get it for free when you register on the website. The reason why is because you can get the biggest bestseller of the summer, professionally narrated by an actor – in case you’re not all that interested in the classics. If you’re looking for a recommendation – check out Gone Girl if you like a good, well-written, chilly thriller.
All You Can Books.com
The idea here is similar to Audible – you get a one month free trial, and then you start paying; the reason why it’s on this list is because in that month you don’t get one single free book – you get access to as many as you want to download and keep. In other words, you get access to 30, 000+ books for one month – and those include audiobooks, e-books, and language courses. That’s right – free language courses to listen to while on the plane for your summer vacation. Sounds like a sweet deal, right?
